Summary

Pewter "Rumbler" bell found at Congleton. Circular with narrow slot opening. Traces of an incised six petaled flower is present on the front. Contains small fragment of iron which was used to make a noise. Possibly from a horse harness or a sheep.

Rumbler bell found at Congleton. Max length 35mm, max dia. 12mm. The bell is circular, squashed oval in cross section, with a letter box type opening. The suspension loop is in the shape of an inverted teardrop. The surface is roughly finished with evident tool marks. Traces of an incised six petaled flower is present on the front. A small irregular fragment of iron is used to produce the sound. Possibly from a horse harness or a sheep.
