Full Description
A number of bronze objects within a collection of objects presented to The Bromborough Society. The bronze objects were said to come from land south of Street Hay Farm, nr Willaston, from an old trackway used by the Romans, which ran from Chester to Storeton. These comprise an interesting fibula or brooch of Roman type; a bronze handle of a vase or other vessel; an armlet; and two fragments of other ornaments. Possibly Roman in date. Within the collection were a number of flints from Merseyside, two of which had faded ink inscriptions, suggesting that they once belonged to another collection. This casts doubt on the actual origin of all the artefacts.(1)
