Full Description
In 1643 the Parliamentary forces threw up entrenchments at Stockton heath, near the Mulberry tree garden, where at various times since, great quantities of military accoutrements have been found. Near to them on one occasion there were not less than a thousand 'gipsy pipes' lying in heaps of 10 or 12 pipes together (1). No earthworks shown on any old plans and no trace of earthworks (2).
