Full Description
<1> Birmingham University Field Archaeology Unit, 1993, Bent Farm Quarry, Congleton: An Archaeological Watching Brief 1993, R2047 (Client Report). SCH4142.
Features revealed during topsoil stripping of 4ha at Bent Farm Quarry, near to Roman Camp (1161/1). Linear feature probably representing a removed field boundary, 3 large sub-circular features, probably filled in ponds, three oval features one of which was filled with a large amount of charcoal and probably represented a hearth, were found. All features probably represent activities associated with relatively recent agricultural regimes.
