Roman finds of a bow brooch, fragment of knobbed bronze terret ring and an L shaped iron lift key. Terret rings are parts of horse harnesses designed for reins to pass through to allow contol of one or more horses, particularly on chariots or carts.

Full Description

Roman finds found by a metal detector. Bow brooch with moulded decoration on three ribs, the outer being knurled. The leg is plain and ends in a small foot knob. Oval appendage on each side. Fragment of knobbed bronze terret ring. Comprises part of a loop, oval in section, with two prominent knobs. Trumpet shaped terminal. L shaped iron lift key. Covered in thin layer of corrosion products. Shank rectangular in section with a thickening near the centre of the shank. (1)
