Summary

Grade II listed former stables, used for storage at the time of recording. They date from the early 17th century and were partially rebuilt in the later 19th century. They are timber framed with brick nogging on a stone base. The stables are two storeys high. The ground storey has a line of four doors and there are three circular and one square pitch-hole above. The rear wall and left gable have regular small framing with angle braces and the right gable in built in stone blocks.

Full Description

Stables 20m south of Wynnstay Farmhouse, Tarporley Road. Formerly stables, now storage. Early C17, partially rebuilt later C19. Timber framing with brick nogging on stone base. Welsh slate roof. Two-storey, four-bay north-west front. Ground storey has line of four doors. Three circular pitch-holes with stone sills and a square pitch-hole above. Rear wall and left gable in regular small framing with angle braces, right gable in stone blocks. Interior: Timber partition walls with large tension braces. Trusses of tiebeam and two diagonal struts. Full architectural description (1).
