Full Description
Clothes fastener (hook tag) of Tudor Style. Consists of a rectangular gold mount with relief heart and pellet decoration and eight evenly spaced lobes protuding from the edge of the mount. A rectangular silver loop and hook are attached to the back. Dimensions of the mount - 9mm x 13mm. Length including hook is 18mm. Fasteners of this type are known in copper alloy or sometimes silver- according to the British Museum the use of gold and silver is most unusual. Dated 16th, possibly 17th century. Found by metal detector.
