Summary

Bronze strap end of Anglo-Saxon type (incomplete). Possibly dates from the 9th century. Much of the front side of the fragment has been lost due to corrosion, and with it the decoration. The tip of the strap end terminates in a much debased animal head form.

Full Description

Bronze strap end of Anglo-Saxon type (incomplete). Much of the front side of the fragment has been lost due to corrosion, and with it the decoration. The tip of the strap end terminates in a much debased animal head form. Ninth century?- for comparable finds see numerous examples from Whitby Abbey (2). Length 3cm width 1.1cm. Found by metal detectorist (1).
