Full Description

Early Bronze Age shafthole axe found at Millgate Farm during harvesting. L26cm W 10.4cm, max thickness near cutting edge 7.4cm. Hour glass perforation 3.1 cm diameter at narrowest point. Made of fine-grained stone (greywacke?). Shallow pitting over much of the surface; smooth around cutting edge. Some surface damage on one face - plough impact? (1)
