Summary

A rare gold stater (iron age coin) was found here. It is a coin of the Corieltauvi whose territory was in Lincolnshire amd probably dates from the end of the 1st century BC. One side of the coin shows a poorly struck wreath and the other has disjointed horse with domino device above.

Full Description

Gold stater found in September 1999 with a metal detector. Coin of the Corieltauvi, domino-type. Probably dating from the end of the 1st century BC. Obverse: poorly struck wreath. Reverse: disjointed horse with domino device above. Most findspots are in the core of the Corieltauvian territory in Lincolnshire. Cheshire finds very rare (1)(2).
