Summary

Second century Roman bronze trumpet brooch with typical flared head. A moulding just below the crest of the bow takes the form of a waist knob set between well defined transverse grooves. The decoration does not extend to the underside of the bow. The catch-plate is missing.

Full Description

Bronze trumpet brooch with typical flared head. A perforated lug (broken) attached to the underside of the head originally secured an axial bar to secure a spring mechanism. A moulding just below the crest of the bow takes the form of a waist knob set between well defined transverse grooves. The decoration does not extend to the underside of the bow. the catch-plate is missing. L 4.9cm. A second century form (1).
