Find Spot record 481 - Bronze Age spearhead found at Howley Weir

Incomplete bronze spearhead found March 29th 1953. Spearhead brought up during reinforcing work on the north bank of the Howley Weir (1). Spearhead is broken near the shaft, which has side loops. It is 3 3/4 inches long but when complete would have been c.6 1/8 inches long. Blade width is 1 3/16 inches long. Possibly of Irish origin (2). It was found complete but the point was broken by workmen using it to play darts (3).
