Full Description
<1> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Leigh A 1989 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.
Neolithic polished stone axe. Made of a smooth fine-grained whitish rock and is undamaged apart from a few chips and surface scratches. Found at a depth of three to four feet, whilst using a JCB excavator to dig a pit for a septic tank in Thelwall. The find was reported to Warrington Museum straight away, on the 8th November 1989. The axe is 198mm long; 59mm wide and 39mm thick. The find spot was inspected by the Curator of Warrington Museum and the County Archaeologist
