Please read our .

Summary

A ring ditch, discovered in cereal crop during aerial reconnaissance, in 1991 could be a Bronze Age round barrow. Round barrows are a type of burial mound, particularly used in the Bronze Age. Mounds of earth and stone were placed over a burial or cremation. A single barrow could be re-used for several later burials. Cropmarks are visible changes in the growth of vegetation that may indicate a buried feature. These distinctions can usually only be identified from aerial photographs.
