Summary

The 1840s tithe map for the township of Rixton cum Glazebrook depicts a mill and large mill pond. The mill is named on a later Ordnance Survey map as Rixton Mill and describes it as a corn mill. The mill had been demolished by the 1890s and the pond drained. Subsurface archaeological remains associated with the mill may survive within this area.

Rixton Corn Mill is depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition six-inch map of 1849 (Lancashire sheet 109). The site now lies in a patch of waste ground in arable fields.
