Summary

Yate's 1786 map of Lancashire and the Ordnance Survey 1st edition depict shows a scatter of individual farms and an inn adjacent to the road which edges Lately common. Surviving buildings are restricted to Ward's End Farm and Jennet's Lane Farm.

Full Description

Yate's 1786 map of Lancashire shows a scatter of buildings along the present Warrington Road to the immediate northof Glazebury and names the settlement as Lately Common, (1).

The Ordnance Survey 1st edition 25" to 1 mile map depicts individual farms and an inn adjacent to the road which edges the common (2).

Surviving buildings are restricted to Ward's End Farm and Jennet's Lane Farm (3).
