Summary

The stern end of a logboat was found in digging house foundations at the Westy Lane Housing Site, Latchford in 1930. The boat measures 3 ft 7.5/8 ins long (1.12 metres) x17 ins wide (43 cm)and 8 ins deep (20.3cm). It lay in a silted up creek, running to the river through former marsh-land, covered by silt and the old road surface of Poachers' Lane which formerly crossed the area.

Full Description

Stern end of a logboat was found in digging house foundations at the Westy Lane Housing Site, Latchford 23 Oct 1930.Boat is 3 ft 7.5/8 ins long x l7 ins wide and 8 ins deep.Lay at a depth of 2 ft 6 ins in a silted up creek, running to the river through former marsh-land, covered by silt and the old road surface of Poachers' Lane which formerly crossed the area (1). Examined by McGrail 1974.Two fragments probably from this boat (2).
