Summary

St Michael's Church, Burtonwood is a Grade II listed building. A chapel of Burtonwood was erected 1605-6 upon land granted by Thomas Bold of Bold. In 1650 the building was described as inconveniently situated for the use of the township and the building was not consecrated. It was rebuilt in 1716 as a stone-dressed brick church with a grey slate roof.

Full Description

St Michael's Church, Burtonwood. Chapel of Burtonwood erected 1605-6 upon land granted by Thomas Bold of Bold. In 1650 the building was described as inconveniently situated for the use of the township. Building was not consecrated (1). Present St Michael's Church probably occupies site of earlier chapel. Registers date from 1688. Rebuilt 1716. Stone-dressed brick with grey slate roof (2). Full architectural description (2)+(3).
