Full Description

The name Spital Bridge (RN:454/1/1) may suggest the presence of a hospital, oratory or similar chapel on or near the bridge (1).However in 1588 the tithes of Woolston, Poulton & other parishes were given to a hospital at Warwick, founded in 1585 (1).The name of the bridge may therefore derive from the Warwick hospital & not from a local foundation(2).
