Full Description

Stone axe found Nov 1848, near Houghton Brook in Orford. Made of Polished hornstone flint, 4 inches long x 2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches thick. Found by John Stringer whilst cutting a drain in a field called 'the Canks' at a depth of 2 feet (1)(2). Stone axe found June 1851 at Orford. Made of hornstone flint 5 5/8 inches long with polished convex surfaces (3). Probably found near Houghton Brook (1)(4)(5).
