Full Description
Fragment of a jar found on E side of Bridge Street in a workman's trench, c.1m below the surface. Part of a Spanish vessel, known as an 'olive jar' & used to transport olives & olive oil. Prob manufactured near Seville. Date range of 16th - 17th centuries. Only other finds in NW are from Chester, but the type has been found in Bristol, London, Southampton & Norwich (1).
