Summary

Site of Latchford Bridge which is mentioned in a list of bridges within the Hundred of Bulklowe dating from 1618. This document was presented by the Constable and Overseers of the Highways in 1618. This document states that this bridge (under the heading of horse bridges) was to be maintained by Latchford, Over Walton and Nether Walton. There is however no record of the site or even if it crossed the Mersey or a subsidiary stream.

Full Description

Site of Latchford Bridge. Referred to in a list of bridges within the Hundred of Bulklowe presented by the Constable & Overseers of the Highways in 1618. It was to be maintained by Latchford, Over Walton & Nether Walton. It appears under the heading of 'horse bridges' & is separately listed from Warrington & Wilderspool bridges (448/1/2 + 451/1/1)(1). No siting evidence. No evidence that the bridge crossed the Mersey & it was probably on a subsidiary stream(2).
