Summary

Excavation between 1973 - 1976, prior to a housing development produced evidence of a series of ditched enclosures with associated timber buildings arranged on either side of a west - east trackway. Four phases of occupation were identified in 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The variety of structures suggest a range of small scale operations of both a domestic and industrial nature. Finds include potsherds, glass, brooches, leadweights, iron objects, spindle whorls, column bases and capitals, millstones, quern frags, flint flakes, tile, a crucible and an inscribed pebble.
