A roman bronze colander, was found 11ft below the surface of the moss at Risley in 1825. It is described as worn, cracked and oxidised.

Full Description

1825 - Roman bronze colander, found 11ft below the surface of the moss at Risley. Much worn, cracked & oxidised. Measures 16ins in circumference, 6ins in diam & 3ins high. Neatly punctured at the bottom, with holes worked into a sort of pattern. No handle. In 1883 in possession of Col. J.ireland Blackburne at Hale Hall (1). Possibly to be identified as the Roman patera found at Risley Moss (2).
