Summary

Site of a medieval manor house. At the time of Domesday, Orford was a small manor attached to the capital manor of Warrington. The Norris family held Orford until 1595 when it passed through marriage to the Tildesley family, who rebuilt the hall. The hall was owned by the Blackburne family from the middle of the 17th century until 1812. In the 19th century hall was occupied by William Beamont, first mayor of Warrington. The hall stood in Orford Park and was demolished in 1935.

Full Description

At the time of Domesday, Orford was a small manor attached to the capital manor of Warrington. The Norris family held Orford until 1595 when it passed through marriage to the Tildesley family, who rebuilt the hall. Next possessors of Orford Hall were members of the Blackburne family from the middle of the 17th century until 1812. In the 19th century hall was occupied by William Beamont, first mayor of Warrington. Hall stood in Orford Park. Hall demolished in 1935 (1).
