Find Spot record 834/0/1 - Prehistoric stone axe from Delamere

Polished stone axe found in 1960, amongst stones in a hedge bank, while fencing. Grey-buff, fine- grained rock. Roughly polished sides. Chipped at cutting edge. Longitudinal scratched groove on one side. Fragment removed from butt end. Section removed for analysis. Drawing (1). Polished stone axe, badly damaged grey-buff greywacke, Group XV. In Grosvenor Museum (2). Exact location given. Said to have been lost by Grosvenor (3).
