<1> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Jones K, 1995 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.
Report of two excavations with 'local archaeologists' have taken place in the pub car park. At a point 8.23m from the edge of the A49, which is at approximately SJ 5734 6594, the road was apparently found 'destroyed' 0.3m below the surface. Another sighting of the road was made in the Hay Meadow consisting of the clay cap of the road and the remnants of a ditch, but no road surface, 0.61m below the surface. No exact location for this sighting was given. The Hay Meadow is the name of two fields to the east and south of the planting scheme between SJ 5728 6577 adjacent to the A49 and SJ 5741 6581.
