Summary
Embankment west of Dutton Lodge Farm, presumably built for the Grand Junction Railway in 1837. Embankments are artificial hills built to allow railways to run level over low lying ground. The Grand Junction Railway was built between 1830 and 1850 and linked Liverpool and Manchester to Birmingham.
