Monument record 916/1 - Crowton Corn Mill

Please read our .

Summary

There are references to a mill at Crowton dating from the sixteenth and seventeenth century, but the present mill building dates from the eighteenth century, though the mill pond and its associated dam probably pre-date this building. The waterwheels were removed at the beginning of the twentieth century and replaced with a turbine to generate electricity. The mill building was damaged by fire in 2002 and subsequently converted into apartments.
