Summary

Railway embankment north of Lobslack Wood probably built for the opening of the Winsford and Over Railway in 1870. Embankments are artificial hills built to allow railways to run level over low lying ground. The Winsford and Over Railway, opened in 1870 and was later taken over by the Cheshire Lines Committee. It had closed by 1930 and all the track was then removed. The only trace are the embankments, cuttings and footpath along the original route
