Monument record 2267/1/32 - Delamere Goods Shed

Presumably built by 1869 to serve the Cheshire Lines Committee'S Northwich - Chester Railway. (1) Labelled as a goods shed on an 1872 Ordnance Survey map. (2) The building had a single track running through its length and was significant enough to warrant a small office extension. It could initially have been used as a rural goods depot for agricultural stock, or as the focal point for the nearby forest industry as a crane is labelled on the 1872 map. Tileworks present on a 1970 map did not exist as early as 1910 (3) so would not have utilised the railway until a few years into the twentieth century. The goods shed is still present on the 1910 edition map, but by 1970 has been dismantled or demolished, although the accompanying sidings are still present.
