Summary

Two fields on the tithe map of 1845 are named in the apportionment as Brick kiln field. Tithe maps were produced between 1838 and 1854 and they record the names of owners, tenants, and values of property in each parish. They were created to establish taxation rates The 315 acres of Oulton park were enclosed by a brick wall in 1752, and it is possible that some of the bricks were fired in the estates own kilns.

Full Description

Two fields on the tithe map of 1845 are named in the apportionment as Brick kiln field: SJ 610 630 & 622 640. Both of these have other names on the Darley estate map of 1695. The 315 acres of Oulton park were enclosed by a brick wall in 1752, and it is possible that some of the bricks were fired in the estates own kilns (1).
