Full Description
Wallerscote, a small manorial site. Edward I is said to have spent some days there when he was in Cheshire for the foundation of Vale Royal Abbey (1). Wallerscote was first mentioned in 1185. The name means 'Salt-boiler's cottage', so it was probably a salt-making site. The township of Wallerscote belonged to the Nuns of Chester until 1360 & was 'but one house & a constablewick' in 1671 (2).
