Full Description
The New Pale, Delamere Forest was enclosed for the preservation of vert & venison in the 17th century (1). The enclosure is bounded by a low sandstone wall with hedge above. On the sloping ground a near vertical scarp up to 1.5m high has developed but there is no ha-ha. There is no trace of the boundary wall between SJ 52197208 & SJ 52537204 (2). Shown on Plan of Delamere Forest dated 1627 (3).
