Full Description
The Synagogue well rises close to the site of Frodsham Castle. It has a large square stone basin to receive the surplus water. The well has neither an inscription nor a history, nor is it known how it acquired its name. It is suggested that St Agnes was its patron (1). The well is rectangular & enclosed by a wall of sandstone blocks of uncertain date. It is dry. There are remains of rock cut steps leading down into it in its NE corner. In 1976 it was being used as a receptacle for garden rubbish (2).
