Summary

Lower Rileybank Farmhouse is Grade II listed. It was probably built in the early 17th century and altered later. The walls are brick at the front with sandstone at the back and the roof is grey slate. A former chapel, (now used as a farm building) forms a cross-wing on the left which is built largely of coursed red sandstone. In the former chapel is a carved sandstone panel with a fleur- de-lys with a cross to each side. There is an associated handpump that dates from the nineteenth century and comprimises a cast iron pump and stone trough

Full Description

Lower Rileybank Farmhouse, Manley Road. Formerly listed as Mickledale. Probably early 17th century, altered. English garden wall bond small brown bricks to front, sandstone to back; roof of grey slates. Three boarded doors indicate a longhouse-derivative plan. Former chapel, now calf- shed, form cross-wing left, largely ofcoursed red sandstone. Interior: oak beams and two inglenooks. Carved sandstone panel in former chapel; fleur- de-lys with a cross to each side (1). Full architectural description (1) and (2).
