Summary

Cropmarks of a bank and ditch near Crossley Hospital have been identified. It has been suggested as the NE angle of a Roman fort. Howevere there are no marks on the ground. Cropmarks are visible changes in the growth of vegetation that may indicate a buried feature. These distinctions can usually only be identified from Aerial Photographs.

Cropmarks of a bank & ditch near Crossley Hospital. Suggested as the NE angle of a Roman fort. No features on ground. Marks possible caused by a grading machine (1). Cropmark at Crossley Hospital, possibly Roman, on Aerial Photograph (2).
