Find Spot record 904 - Fragments of Roman sandstone quern and pestle

Part of a sandstone quern & a pestle or grain crusher found during road making, behind the nurses home at Crossley's Sanatorium. Two charcoal patches were discovered c.7ft in diam. To the east was the quern fragment, 16ins in diam & 1.5ins thick. Close by some 'red ware' was found. Further east was the sandstone pestle or crusher, 3ins wide x 4.5ins long (1).
