Summary

Grade II listed listed former farmhouse, now a house. It was built in the early 17th century and has 18th century extensions and was again extended and remodelled in 1913. The walls are dressed red sandstone blocks with brick extensions. It has a welsh slate roof with stone ridge and brick chimneys. There are some sandstone medieval bosses in the garden which may have come from Vale Royal Abbey.

Toolerstone, Norley Road, Sandiway. Formerly a farmhouse, now a house. Early 17th century with 18th century extensions. Extended and remodelled in 1913 by Col J Saner. Dressed red sandstone blocks with brick extensions and some 20th century timber framing. Welsh slate roof with stone ridge and brick chimneys. Full architectural description.

Within the garden are a number of good carved sandstone medieval bosses which are almost certain to derive from Pendleton's excavations at Vale Royal Abbey.

A level 1 building survey was produced in 2017 for 'Toolerstone', Norley Road, in advance of alteration. Toolerstone is an early seventeenth century farmhouse with eighteenth century extensions, further extended and remodelled in 1913; it is a grade II listed (LB ref: 1287517). The dwelling is of dressed red sandstone blocks with brick extensions and some twentieth century timber framing. The roof is of Welsh slate with stone ridge and brick chimneys. The building has evolved from a two room gable-entry house into an L-shaped structure. The proposed alterations include the demolition of six existing internal partitions on the first floor as well as the blocking up of two existing doorways and insertion of two new doorways.
