Full Description
A polished greenstone axe of Cumbrian 'Ehenside Tarn' type was found in the silt of Acton Brook 700yds W of Acton Bridge Station & nearly 300yds N of Onston Hall. Type is assigned on Scandinavian evidence c.2500-2000 BC (1). Axe found in 1925 & has been presented to the Grosvenor Museum (2). Illustrated (4).
