Full Description
Nos 1 & 2 Bankfield Farm, Aston Grange. Former farmhouse, now two dwellings, late 16th and early 17th century cased in brick in early 19th century and altered. In the interior a substantial proportion of the 16th and 17th century oak frame is likely to have been preserved in both cottages. The sequence appears to be: central gable wing Elizabethan; rear wing 16th or 17th century; side front gable wings late Georgian. The wall between the central and left gable temporarily stripped of plaster during the 1960s is stated to have diamond or chevron panels of Elizabethan type. Full architectural description (1).
