Small bronze coin of Gallienus (AD 253-268) found by Mr Thomas Wilkinson, a farm worker in 1948, in a field near Whitley Road, bounded on two sides by Reed Lane and Reedgate Lane (1). Finder reported the finding of the coin whilst ploughing his father's field during the war.Denied the date and siting information of ref 1 and gave grid ref 6407 8152.Coin identified by Manchester Museum.In possession of finder (2).
