Poosey Chapel was built by & belonged to Norton Priory. In 1666 Leycester notes 'In the demain of Dutton is also another chapel of ease called Poosey-chappel within the parish of runcorne, but is now ruinate & in decay. It is seated between the river & the park pool within the demain of Dutton'
<2> Richards, R, 1950, The Lesser Chapels of Cheshire (Article in Journal). SCH9130.
The chapel was built in the reign of Henry III, with the priest being provided by Norton Priory. It was constantly frequented by the neighbourhood until Robert Lord Kilmorey came to live at Dutton where he kept a chapel. Then Poosey began to be neglected & by 1666 it was totally in decay, although part of the structure remained, according to Leycester.
