Summary

The core of Starkie House is a two-bay, two-storey, sandstone rubble cottage, probably of 17th century date. The central truss is of a pair of full crucks. The house is now greatly extended. A cruck is a beam used in timber framing. Two curved timbers that are cut from the same tree, are used to support a roof, from floor to apex.

Full Description

The core of Starkie House is a two-bay, two-storey, sandstone rubble cottage, probably of C17 date. The central truss is of a pair of full crucks. Parts of one stone mullioned window survives. House now greatly extended (1).
