<1> National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside, 1992, An Archaeological Assessment of a Proposed Development on Land at Tytherington, Macclesfield., R2023/2 (Client Report). SCH4188.
A roughly rectngular raised area approximately 19m x 12m on a flat, narrow terrace, butting up to the stream, was identified during a field visit. Short section of hollow way, approximately 17m long x 2m wide and 0.4-0.5m at it's deepest, marks it's southern edge. Adjacent field to south is listed as Lower Mill field in 1849 tithe apportionment. Thirteenth century document refers to a mill on Titherington family lands but there is no guarantee that this is the same site.
