Full Description
A farm complex consisting of a two storey three bay double pile farmhouse with a kitchen wing to the west, cheese rooms, pigsties, shippons, four cottages, a barn and further agricultural buildings. The west yard housed four stables and a series of open sided cattle shelters, all with hay lofts over, and further agricultural buildings. Constructed of random sandstone rubble with ashlar quoining, dating to the second quarter of the 19th century. It formed the home farm to Shrigley Hall and served a mixed economy iof dairying, stock rearing and piggeries. Later in the 19th century the west yard was sub-divided by the construction of an open sided cattle shelter orientated east-west. A threshing floor was created between the south end of the original central and south range.
