Full Description
<1> Department of the Environment, 1971-2005, List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, /5/200 (Report). SCH1934.
Cross on parish boundary 145m south-east of junction with Macclesfield Road. Pre-conquest cross, probably 11th century but moved slightly when road widened c.1935. Buff sandstone. Cross stands c.l.3m high and has a tapering circular shaft with a raised band just above half way. Above this four faces have been cut which may have traces of carving. The top is broken off

Earwaker described the cross as a stone pillar, 6ft high, built into the wall at the side of the road

Described as a 'staff-rood' cross, similar to other crosses dated by Collingwood to the 11th century

Cylindrical cross shaft, c.6ft long, built into stone wall. Similar to 3 cross shafts in Macclesfield Park
