Full Description
Railway viaduct, c. 1842. Red and blue brick with stone dressings. Ten semi circular arches springing from rectangular piers. The 3 arches to the right and 2 to the left sit upon the embankment sides. 6 full piers rising from the valley floor. Full piers have slightly projecting plinths with stone dressings to their tops. Stone string courses at the level of the springing of the arches. Stone band below parpet and stone coping and panelled end piers to parapet (1). Built forthe Manchester and Birmingham Railway, opened in 1842 (2).
