Full Description
Opened in 1848 as a 1 in 40 self acting incline, a branch off the Colliery railway, from the Poynton Coal Station (SJ 9210 8390) to Lord and Lady Pits (SJ 9314 8346). Extended in 1857 to Anson Pit (SJ 9403 8354) The section from Lord and Lady Pits to Quarry Pit was closed in 1889, with the opening of the Park Pits to Quarry Pit line. The rest was closed in 1907. The section from Quarry Pit to Anson Pit replaced an earlier plateway (1).
