Summary

On a natural terrace immediately east of Lantern Wood are a group of curved enlosures. They are a variety of sizes with dry stone walls (now collapsed) All the walls have one large gap and there are lesser gaps in some cases. They stand directly on the line of view between Lyme Hall and the Lantern and were presumably demolished at some time before the Lantern was built in 1727. However, their date and function are not clear. They are not regular enough to be hut circles or large enough to be sheepfolds. It is possible that they are part of a miniature golf course marked on an OS map.
